The Joy of Reading

The focus on teaching Danish in the first few years at school is intensive. In Year 1 the children have 9 weekly Danish lessons and in Year 2 they have 8. We do this to ensure that the children earn to read quickly and to instil in them a lifelong joy of the value of reading books. Each class has their own bookcase filled with books chosen by the children and their teachers. Our aim is for the children to experience the pleasure of immersing themselves in books as both an alternative and an addition to the electronic world that competes for their attention.
